Linux
Linux is an open source Operating System that can run on PC's. There are a larger number of versions of this OS plus a bunch of new terminology that can make it confusing in choosing and using Linux. To help make sense of all this, I've created a list of articles and web sites that may help.

Choosing a Distro
Distro's I have worked with
- Ubuntu - seems to be the most recommended. There is supposed to be a Live CD somewhere.
- Knoppix - can be run from a CD so you can evaluate it before installing it.
- GMRL - similar to Knoppix but has more up to date software
- Puppy Linux - I use this Linux the most because it works on my old Pentium 2 PC
- Dam Small Linux - fits into a 50 MB file
- SLAX - 200 MB Live CD with different versions. There are many modules that can be added to the CD. Need to logon. Can use KDE or FLUXBOX. It seems big on the commands
- Morphix - a Live CD distribution designed to be run from a CD-ROM drive with no need to partition and install in your hard disk. It comes in three main types, a Light GUI (small footprint) version, a "medium" version with KDE, and a Heavy GUI version that includes both the latest KDE and GNOME along with the OpenOffice suite
- DHORUBA - can run without installing anything. Very slow boot up on PC
- Dreamlinux - a 700 MB Live CD
- PCLinuxOS - recommended by other reviewers - 700 MB
